Irrational Fears

So today I woke up and started to think about how quickly this baby is going to be in our lives. It excites me but also brings along all of these irrational fears of motherhood. You know how some people say, they just can't picture themselves being old, or married.. I never pictured myself being a mother. Sounds crazy but even as a child, I had these dreams that I would die young. Too young to be a mom. I also dreamt that I wouldn't get married either, but that has happened. I know these dreams are irrational, but I always just thought that's how it was going to be. Now that I am more than half way through this pregnancy, I am getting nervous. I know I am great with kids, I always have had a thing with kids. They tend to attach to me quickly which always made me think I would be a good mom. Right now I think it is a combo of pregnancy hormones, and the fear of the unknown that has had me feeling nervous.
Knowing I have about 17 weeks left before my baby is here, I am excited, anxious, nervous, fearful of actually giving birth all wrapped into one bundle of nerves.

Today I am 23 weeks pregnant. Last night I had my first braxton hicks contraction and let me tell you I was not expecting that. I was so scared something was wrong. It felt as if someone popped my stomach quickly then blew it back up. I was so nervous that something was wrong but once I drank some orange juice and the little one started moving again, I got more comfortable.

I am starting to set up the baby's section of my room in the next few weeks. I look forward to cleaning out some much needed old stuff. The baby is a great motivation to get rid of that old poster sitting under my bed for the last 2 years.... Time to clear it all out!

I got my bedding set, well I don't really HAVE it yet, It was purchased for me.
I adore it, I think it is the perfect match to our room. Our room is painted a dark burgandy color with all cherry wood furniture with a cream colored bed set. So this will fit perfectly in with our room.

I cannot wait to get things set up and make it feel more like our baby is on his way. Right now everything still seems so far away!

It's been a while

I stopped doing this blogger thing for a while, mostly because I was confused with it, but I am dedicated to getting back into it.
So to update you on my pregnancy...
I am currently 22 weeks pregnant. Feeling the baby move around is the most comforting feeling I have had in my life to date. Those little thump like kicks make me smile instantly. I may look like a complete crazy lady randomly smiling as hard as I can to other people, but it makes me happy!
We know that the baby is a BOY! My husband James is extremely excited for this. The other night he said the cutest thing while we were trying to fall asleep. He looked at me and said, I can't wait to do things with my boy, play football, hockey, T-ball! I can't wait to teach him all of those things! I just remember back to my childhood, I was raised by my mom who was 17 when she had me and my grandparents. I had an amazing childhood. I had all the attention anyone would need and constant support and love from my family and I am excited to give that to my child.

My morning sickness has let up. I still gag when I brush my teeth, but my mom told me she did that the entire time while she was pregnant also! I find myself craving veggies and fruits, still NO MEATS. I force myself to eat protein once a day, but I really do NOT enjoy it neither does baby!

I find myself still referring to him as "baby". I cannot find it in me to call him James yet. I feel like I need to meet him first before I can call him by name.
His name will be James Robert the 4th! I will probably be calling him JR. Due to all the other people already named James.. it will get confusing! Again, I have to MEET him before I decide to call him anything but baby.

So now that I am getting back into this blogging thing, I promise to update it more!

Welcome to the 2nd Tri~!

So "they" say the second trimester is easier.... WHO are THESE PEOPLE WHO SAY THIS! I want to know so I can kick them in the face! Seriously, I need a break. I am STILL getting sick 3-5 times a day and I am finding no relief. I have tried everything from saltines, to snacking instead of eating meals, ginger candies, ginger ale... nothing helps!!! I hope it let's up soon.
We have a few big events coming up in the next few weeks... doctor's appointments, our NT scan is scheduled so we get our first up close look at you!
I cannot wait.
I am nervous at the same time. So many thoughts run through your mind about what is happening in that little bubble of yours. I hope you are ok and healthy and we cannot wait to see you !

First Trimester

So my first trimester has been very difficult. Getting sick 3-5 times a day is beginning to take it's toll on me. I find myself in the bathroom constantly.
Right now pregnancy is NOT agreeing with me. I have to admit, before getting pregnant I always said I wanted a big family, 3-4 kids I think I may be reconsidering that estimate now.

Our first ultrasound, you looked like a little blob. Most wonderful looking blob I have ever seen. I was cannot believe this is happening all so quickly

Our second ultrasound you looked more like a gummi bear.. I will call you Gummi for the next few weeks until you resemble something else.

The end of my first trimester is getting a little better. Here is a picture of my bloat at 13 weeks

Ode to the toilet!

Dear baby,
Can you please stop making mommy throw up!!! I can not even hold water down at the moment. Don't you know that you need mommy to eat to grow strong and healthy?
I had no choice but to call the doctor and ask him to help me because Daddy is getting very nervous about all my throwing up and frankly I am too.

So the doctor let us come see him a day early, and gave me some Zofran so I can stop being so sick. If you do not stop getting mommy so sick, I will have to go to the hosptial for dehydration so PLEASE, please stop!

Tomorrow we get to see you for the first time, I hope you are doing well!
